Review - Just Us by Riley J. Ford

This review is for “Just Us” by Riley J. Ford.

Here is the official description:

Before I ever fell in love with Bryce, there was Hayden. Hayden was my first love, the kind of love that takes your breath away and you remember forever. My love story with Bryce came later. Much later, after everything had happened.

Avery Hill and Hayden Stuart are high school sweethearts and each other's first true love. When Hayden is accepted to college in Los Angeles, Avery intends to follow him so they can build a life together. After a tragic chain of events ruins their plans forever, Avery is left to pick up the pieces. Will she survive all that was lost? And will she forgive the man who destroyed her and Hayden's dreams forever?

* MY SPOILER *

This is a teenager romance – you know, that first young love.
Avery has know Hayden for awhile now. They attend the same school and work together. They are best friends. She has feelings for him but she doesn't want to lose her best friend so she says nothing. Until it's time for a special dance that the girl has to ask the guy...Avery's friend wants to ask Hayden. Avery isn't happy about this but will not stand in the way. Hayden only wants to attend the dance as Avery's boyfriend but how to tell her? YES! They are now more that just friends but his mom puts her foot down.
What to do? What all teenagers do, sneak around behind mom's back and continue their romance. <Smile>
Things are going so good and finally Avery is ready for the next step. So they have their first time together. And can't keep their hands off each other. But they are being smart and using protection. They both have plans for their future and kids will be in that AFTER marriage though. <smile>
His mom finds out about their continued romance and has grounded him. But they make plans to spend his birthday together. On the way home, an accident happens and Hayden is killed. How can she survive? What did the doctors say to Avery's mom while she was in the hospital? Is there a reason for her to continue living??

Even though this is an overview of the book – it is very well written and I encourage you to get this book plus the second one. Riley J. Ford is a terrific author.

Here is my honest review of this book:

This is a really good romance story! I already love Riley's writing style and knew that I would not be disappointed with this book.

This is a young love story of two seventeen year olds who are experiencing that first true love. It's everything that we wish our first love could be. But there are forces against them. First his mom, then life itself. I am not going to spoil the story for you here. But I promise you that this is a very good read and you don't want to miss it. Grab a drink and get comfy because once you start, you will not want to stop reading. I would also recommend that you download the second part so that you can see what happens to Avery next.

You can pick this book up at the following:
